SQ3R is a study method developed in 1942 by Francis P. Robinson, a prominent American educational psychologist, based on research in cognitive psychology which promotes enhanced learning of reading material. It’s the most effective reading comprehension and learning skills strategy ever developed and referred to, by Helmut D. Sachs, author of Remembering Everything You Want and Manage the Rest (2013), as the ‘father of all how-to-study programs’. Unfortunately, it fell through the cracks after WWII and, subsequently, most educational leaders and teachers never heard of it and are not using it to improve teaching effectiveness and increase student success.
